Hone Your Craft

As a part of the Wheelhouse family you’ll not only experience top-notch education but we’re proud to be one of the few salons offering the following benefits:

Health Insurance / Retirement / Paid maternity leave / Paid Vacation / Education

With every snip of the blade or stroke of the brush, we want to help people look and feel their best. At Wheelhouse, we’re passionate about education, fashion, and the art of hairdressing. You can always expect our team to be up to date on the latest trends and have fresh hair ideas.

We place a huge importance on education and believe that consistently HONING OUR CRAFT is the best way to not only stay inspired but also be the best at what we do.

Recently, we’ve hosted stylists from well-respected salons at Wheelhouse for instruction sessions and we’ve also traveled throughout the U.S. to attend classes. Most recently, Brian Hickman from Local Honey joined us at the salon to brush up on our team’s cutting techniques. Lara Heist from Parlor and Juke came from Nashville to instruct on best practices for hair painting, and we rounded out 2016 with a trip to Miami to take an unstructured bob class with Oribe guru Kien Hoang.

If you’re not already familiar with Birmingham, prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Our ever-growing city has gotten a lot of press attention this year and for good reason. From a hot culinary scene to a blossoming craft beer arrival to award-winning green space, Birmingham’s got a lot to offer.

Last year, Birmingham lead the nation in craft beer sales and we know that had everything to do with an emerging craft beer scene. Stop by Good People after a Baron’s game, head over to Avondale for some live music, Cahaba hosts great trivia nights and don’t miss TrimTab or the newest breweries Red Hills and Ghost Train.

Not only is the craft beer scene on fire but Birmingham is a culinary destination recognized by numerous publications like Bon Appetit, Thrillist, Garden & Gun, Southern Living, Zagat, Food & Wine and Eater. The Magic City offers dishes from James Beard Foundation winners and nominees: Highlands Bar and Grill, The Bright Star, Hot and Hot Fish Club, Chez FonFon and Ollie Irene plus other highly regarded spots like El Barrio, Bottega and Saw’s BBQ.

WE’D LOVE TO HAVE YOU
