If Birmingham is known for one thing, it’s good food. This culinary city has been recognized by countless publications and won many coveted awards but there’s one place in particular that tops everyone’s list – Saw’s BBQ. While the South in general is known for its top-notch BBQ, in our opinion, Saw’s has absolutely perfected it.
We caught up with Meg in Avondale to discuss her shaggy bob, while enjoying one of Saw’s Soul Kitchen’s most delicious offerings (pictured here) – a plate layered with cheese grits, collard greens, and melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork that’s topped with the thinnest, most crispy onion rings you’ve ever had – better known as “The Pork and Greens.”
Meg has been a client of Wheelhouse’s for years and has always been willing to trust Courtney’s vision. Since her visit with Courtney last year, Meg has been rocking a pixie cut but recently decided she was ready for a fresh look. Once it grew to the right length, Meg and Courtney knew it was time for some shag. Courtney added texture throughout the bob with layers and fun bangs, perfect for Meg’s face shape.
Post-Saw’s, we hopped across the street to another one of our favorite spots, Saturn, where Meg’s #GoodHair definitely did not go unnoticed. This funky local music venue offers coffee during the day and cocktails by night. If we’re not at Saturn to catch a great indie band, we’re enjoying the old-fashioned arcade and board games.
Beyond Saturn and Saw’s, Avondale is one of Birmingham’s hippest and fastest-growing neighborhoods, and a location that a number of great restaurants, a popular brewery and other hangs – all within walking distance of each other – call home. Revitalized areas like Avondale, full of life and culture, are what make Birmingham a place we love to call home.
