We get a lot of questions about what our logo means, so we wanted to take the time to answer it in full for y’all.

Our logo was designed in 2013 as a collaboration with Joey Seales at GOODSOUL.
Our inspiration came from the poppy flower. The 5 petals within the O play on the word “wheel” and create a shape where the “petals” (or lugs, depending on how you interpret the mark) seemingly overlap to communicate motion.
The illustrative “O” taken from the full logo is what you’ll notice around the salon on as our mark on anything Wheelhouse.

Courtney has a personal connection to this shape- If you’ve seen the tattoos on her arms, you’ll know she has some seriously awesome poppy ink!

The 5 petals within the O represent the total letters in “wheel” and “house” respectively. Contained in a circle, the O, the words Wheelhouse become one, to symbolize community.
The typeface we use in our logo is an antique serif reminiscent of early printing presses, early America, and the punk revolution of the 70s-80s. This connects back to the “rock and roll with vintage flair” that longtime Wheelhouse clients that has been a core part of Wheelhouse Salon aesthetic since day one, and has carried on to how we decorate the salon today.

Thanks for reading y’all.
We’ll catch you on the next “Ask Wheelhouse”
