We’ve hosted stylists from well-respected salons at Wheelhouse for instruction sessions and we’ve also traveled throughout the U.S. to attend classes. In 2022, we sent our entire Birmingham and Huntsville staff to the Goldwell educational facilities in New York to be educated on high level color techniques and formulation. As well, 12 members of our staff were sent to Amsterdam in October 2022 to attend the Goldwell Global Experience Event. There, they were educated with stylists from around the globe during a three day event and experienced the Netherlands.

Yearly Raises
We consider pricing an open collaboration between stylists and staff. Your pricing is based on your demand and retention, and will be discussed every year around your hire date for service increases.
Flexible Schedule
At Wheelhouse, we offer a fully customized schedule from day one.
Sliding Scale Commission
We have a competitive, sliding scale commission rate between 45%-55% with a 10% commission for product sales.
Generous Vacation
Our team receives twenty one vacation days so that you can balance your work and life.
Quarterly Education
We place a huge importance on education and believe that consistently honing our craft is the best way to not only stay inspired, but to be the best at what we do. We provide top-notch education to our staff on a quarterly basis while keeping your schedule in mind. We close our salon early on Wednesdays to accommodate high level external educators, and allow members of our staff to pour their expertise into each other during focused time without adding an additional work day onto your schedule.
We also offer travel education opportunities to our staff as they become available. Past trips include New York, Miami, Amsterdam, New Orleans, Chicago, Nashville, and California.
Mental Health + Sick Days
We offer eight days separate from vacation and paid time off for you to care for your mental and physical health.
Staff Retreats + Events
Wheelhouse hosts fun events throughout the year such as the Camp Wheelhouse weekend lake retreat, our joint locational Christmas Party, team dinners, and more.
Creative Opportunities
Never lose your sense of play. We offer opportunities for creativity through photoshoots with professional photographers, staff collaboration, and flexibility for external opportunities.
